SWHS would like to congratulate Aubrey Skiver, Rhyan Alkire, and Carly Mays for having art pieces accepted into this year's Visually Literate Art Show. This is a very competitive juried exhibition that displays work from students all over the county. Aubrey has two pieces that have been accepted into the show (My Junior Year, a Visual Diary and Invasive Species). Both of her pieces are in the mixed media category. Rhyan Alkire has one piece accepted in the color drawing category ( Infa-Red ). Carly Mays has one piece accepted into the photography category (I Don't Want To). These pieces along with many others will be on display in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts gallery from May 3rd until May 16th. On May 16th there will be a closing reception where awards will be given in each of the categories of submission.

The 5th grade at Bloom-Vernon Elementary received a Capitol Square Foundation Grant that paid mileage expenses to the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus. Our 5th grade students traveled to Columbus for this tour of our state capitol building on Monday, 3/13. They were lucky to have a rep from State Senator Terry Johnson’s office meet with the students. They also met with our former State Representative, now recently appointed Ohio Department of Agriculture head, Brian Baldridge. The kids asked them and their guides great questions and impressed everyone with their knowledge of Government!
