We have a lot of exciting news I would like to share about new purchases and updates. We are now, officially, a Nike School. We have an exclusive contract with Nike/BSN to outfit all of our sports teams in Nike, Jordan, and/or BSN brands for our uniforms over the next five years. I have been in contact with several Nike/BSN reps the last several months trying to get this completed prior to the end of the school year. The past five years, we have had an Adidas contract that has been beneficial to our school and sports programs. I believe this new Nike contract will offer more options for our coaches at a discounted rate. We will not replace all uniforms all at once, so you will still see some Adidas gear that has been grandfathered in until new uniforms are purchased. You will also see more sports school stores being offered throughout the year to buy some new apparel. We actually have our first Nike school store starting today and will end in 10 days. I think the kids will be pretty excited too.
A huge thank you to our SW Athletic Boosters and anyone that has helped with various events throughout the year. They are a huge asset to our athletic programs and facilities. Our Boosters have agreed to purchase a new scorer's table for the high school gym. The table will be slightly longer than our current table. The current scorer's table will be moved to the JH gym. You can view what the final product will look like below.
A new Vertimax machine/platform was purchased through the athletic fund. We currently have one platform already, but need another one to help with resistance training for all of our athletes. The new Vertimax platform will be stored near the officials' locker room.
The dome project is currently still moving forward with a little bump in the road. Charlie Boggs, Allard's Excavation, Westend Electric, and Spark's Construction have done a great job meeting all deadlines required to keep the project on track. The concession/restroom area has had a complete makeover and looks awesome. The dirt work and concrete base has all been completed too. The storage building/soccer locker room has also been completed. We are now waiting on the dome company to come to South Webster to start the process of inflating our dome. The dome company is in their "busy season" of putting up and taking down domes all across the nation. Therefore, we have been put on hold for a couple of weeks until they are ready. We have a projected arrival date of May 15th and it will take them a total of 12 days to install the dome. Flooring will follow. Athletic supplies including rims, volleyball nets/poles, scoreboards, are already on site in the district. We will not have to wait on those items once the dome is inflated.
I am extremely thankful for what you as a community, SW Boosters, Superintendent, Treasurer, and our school board has allowed us to offer our kids. I just wanted to give you some updates as we are nearing the end of this school year.
