From Mr. Jeremy Newman, Junior High Math:
I am very proud of our Jr High Mathcounts team that competed at Ohio University last Saturday. They finished 4th overall in our region, just missing 3rd by a few points. In addition to an impressive team ranking, we had four students place in the top 20 overall with Ali Newman (12th), Hunter Slack (13th), Samuel Allard (16th) and Jonathan Dean (18th) representing South Webster. The Mathcounts team members are Newman, Slack, Allard, Dean, Cody Smith, Isaiah Ruth, Riley Burnett, Kennedy Murphy, Zander Rawlins, Lauren Martin, Gabe Roof, Ari Conley, Bella Claxon, and Maryn Smith. In addition to preparing to compete, the students have been volunteering as part of a peer tutoring program to help fellow classmates get ready for the upcoming state math tests. They are a great group to work with and have a very bright future ahead of them!
