March 8th Update

Good morning Jeep Nation! We apologize for the late weekly update but the person responsible for writing them was with the group in the header picture. The 75th Annual Scioto County Honors Music Festival was held last night. Students from all of the county schools plus Oak Hill were rehearsing during school Monday, Monday night, and during school Tuesday, to pull off a concert that honored the past and pave way to the future. Our Jeeps represented us well as we had twenty students represent us total in the band and choir. Way to go Jeeps!

We have tons of sports news for Jeep Nation today. Our boys will be playing Trimble in the Convo tonight (Wednesday) at 8 p.m. Tickets are available in the high school office if you are interested!

Here is a snippet from Kevin Colley from the Portsmouth Daily Times:

“Ellie Jo Johnson and Hagen Schaefer were named as Division IV Co-Players of the Year, J.D. McKenzie was named as the District 14, Division IV Coach of the Year, nine Scioto County players obtained first or second team honors, and 25 girls basketball players from across the county lines made the District 14 Coaches Association’s Girls All-District unit for the 2016-17 campaign.

Johnson and Schaefer, who are two of the best talents that Scioto County has to offer in the Division IV realm, obtained their honors by showing off their impressive versatility on both ends of the floor. Johnson finished the year as South Webster leader in points, rebounds, assists and steals in a vastly impressive junior campaign, while Schaefer capped off an illustrious career by averaging 16 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per contest.”

Bradley Gee has signed with Shawnee State to play baseball. He has been with the high school team for all four years of high school. Gee said the following on getting signed to Kevin Colley of the Portsmouth Daily Times:

“Signing with Shawnee State feels amazing, and is a big accomplishment for me,” Gee said. “To meet a goal of mine, and begin to set sights on other goals that I have at the same time, is a great feeling. I believe that Shawnee State will be a great fit for me, and I hope that my signing will motivate the underclassmen who witnessed it so that baseball can provide them with the opportunity to obtain an education and play at the next level in the sport that they love.”

Congratulations Bradley, you have earned this honor and we wish you well on this opportunity!

Again, we are sorry about the late update Jeep Nation, the Tech Team is out in the district now getting news and stories for all of us to enjoy. In the next few days we will be updating the school calendar on the website so you can plan out the rest of the school year. We hope you have a great rest of your week and as always...GO JEEPS!
