Our next story comes from Mrs. Collier in our engineering department:

South Webster engineering students were given the opportunity to tour the Scioto County Career Technical Center North Campus on Friday during Manufacturing Day.  Students were introduced to several industrial fields, such as CNC Machining, Robotic Arm Programming, Welding, and VEX Robotics.

We would also like to add to Mrs. Collier’s story after speaking with her that the North Campus is the new center for the CTC and that is where all of those programs are held. It seems like a great opportunity for our students to get a certification and there is a business next door to that campus that is hiring graduates of those programs. Thank you for your hard work Mrs. Collier.

Mr. Newman in the junior high has sent some news down for us:

This week in 8th grade math, we started the 1st Mathcounts team at SWHS. We had 18 students attend our 1st session last Friday. Mathcounts is a national math competition with a regional competition in February that our students will compete in.

Way to go Mr. Newman for adding even more opportunities for our students.

That’s all for now Jeep Nation. We will be back with even more news later in the week. Have a great day and as always…GO JEEPS!
