This past weekend the elementary school, with the help of countless volunteers, held the first annual Abby Memorial Run. It was a 5K race to help raise funds for a new scholarship in Abby Ruby’s memory. We were going to do a write-up, but Abby’s grandmother, Susan Barnett, put it perfectly. The quote from her social media account is below:

“The 5K turned out to be everything I thought and more. Almost 400 runners and walkers. Music with people dancing in the parking lot, a live show on the radio, hot dogs, pop, apples and lots of conversation. We cannot begin to express all our gratitude to those who participated, donated, worked and planned. I will refrain from mentioning names for fear I'd leave people out but I want you all to know what it meant to us. Because of all of you Abby's giving spirit will live on.”

One photo we are going to share is of some Minford football players. You may be asking, “Why would they show Minford football players?” The reason is they came to the 5K on Saturday in support of their football coach and Athletic director, parents of Abby Ruby, residents of South Webster, and employees of Minford Local. It takes a village, and when trying to do something in the name of good, sometimes villages come together. We hope you have a great week Jeep Nation and as always…GO JEEPS!
